2010

For some, it is still the first day of the year 2010. But here in my part of the world, 27 hours have passed since we've ushered in the new year in a relatively innocuous manner... just a few close friends, with some good home cooked meals and fireworks lighting up the bay. Quite different from my past new years in the Philippines, but intimate nonetheless. Highlighted by a befitting end for DAY ONE of 2010 -- good conversations over coffee with my best amigas.

I find the start of the new year always refreshing. Like anything can happen, the world is my oyster... and all that positive jazz. At the same time, it makes you stand back and scrutinize over how your previous year has played out. For me, 2009 was quite remarkable, and is definitely one of my good years. Of course it is not without those sad moments, but all in all, i am hoping for as good a year as last year for 2010.

So while i am still feeling lightheaded, and wistful over what could fill up the new pages of this chapter of my life, lemme start with a traditional listing of my goals for this year:

1. Aim for a more positive outlook and patient demeanor
2. Motivate myself to live a healthy and fit lifestyle (and maintain it for good)
3. Read more books!
4. Read the bible. Take notes.
5. Take more photos, and paint more. BLOG more.
6. Travel more. Experience more. Go, go, go! :P
7. Learn to be a good conversationalist
8. SMILE :-)
9. Learn and practice meditation
10. Cultivate good habits

The top 3 on my list will definitely be monitored over the year, with the help of my friends. Just a new tradition we've started (signed and sealed). Should be interesting to see how we've done, quarterly.

And last but not the least, let me end with a simple yet inspirational New Year message from Neil Gaiman...

May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams of good madness.
I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful...
and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing...
or live as only YOU can.
And i hope somewhere in the year, you surprise yourself
